Matthew J. Evans received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in 1992 and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa the same year. He received his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1996. He served as a Student Materials Editor for the Tennessee Law Review in 1996. Evans joined Paine Bickers in April 2002 after practicing at another local firm for several years.

Evans is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association and Co-Chair of its Pro Bono Committee. He is a 2005 graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law Program and a 2007 graduate of the American Bar Association’s Leadership Academy. Additionally, he is a past Chair of the Solo and Small Practitioner’s Section of the Tennessee Bar Association and an editor of the American Bar Association, Tort and Insurance Practice publication, “TortSource.” Evans was selected in 2009 and 2010 as a Knoxville Top Lawyer in Consumer Protection Law. He was also selected as a 2010 Mid-South Rising Star in Products Liability Defense by Mid-South Super Lawyers. Evans and his wife live in Knoxville with their two children, Zeb and Isabel. He is active in church work, his children’s schools and other community activities.
